Finnish President says peace in Ukraine is closer than ever

Helsinki, Dec 13 (UNI/SPUTNIK) Finnish President Alexander Stubb said Europe, the United States, and Ukraine are striving to reach some kind of solution to the conflict before Christmas, and that peace in Ukraine is closer than ever before.
"We are closer to peace or a final outcome than at any time in the last four years," Stubb said at a press conference broadcast by Finnish media.
He added that Europe, the United States, and Ukraine are striving to reach "some kind of solution" before Christmas, but declined to comment on specific discussions.
Earlier, Stubb said Europe has no independent solution to the Ukrainian conflict, and that three documents are being discussed with the United States: a 20-point plan, security guarantees, and the restoration of Ukraine.
